The local launch event in Finland was hosted in the YFU Finland office from 4-7 November 2016. The event aimed to train a new group of facilitators that will be in charge to deliver Coloured Glasses workshops in Finnish schools.
The event was lead by Erik from Sweden and Evelin from Germany and it gathered 11 participants. Participants were well motivated, hardworking and open to have a good time learning about Coloured Glasses. It was an event that had a good mixture of new volunteers and already more experienced volunteers. The programme of the event was very balanced offering a lot of background information and methodological sessions as well as the “hand on parts”.

Coloured Glasses in Finland

The local launch event was attended by Alejandro Ibarra Echeverría who shared his opinion on the activity. “I have always been told that YFU is an international family that goes beyond relationship or even nationality, but this weekend I had the opportunity to live that first hand. I attended the Coloured Glasses training and without knowing anybody I was welcomed as a long time friend. The training was lead by a Swedish and a German trainer who made an amazing job in explaining us how to lead a Coloured Glasses Workshop. We learned everything necessary, from the background theory and the history of Colour Glasses to presentation skills and actual workshop planning. We finished the weekend with the simulation of an actual workshop and feedback from our trainers. I left Helsinki really motivated to start the Colour Glasses programme and I am sure that the launch in Finland is in very good hands.”

This activity was made possible thanks to the funding of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
