The Local Launch Event for the Coloured Glasses in Latvia happened between the 7th and 10th October, gathering 14 new facilitators in the town of Cecis. The event was prepared and delivered by an international team of trainers, Airika Torn and Amanda Vedsted Drejer. The combination of good working conditions offered in the centuries old manor house, the new content of the Coloured Glasses programme and the enthusiasm of the participants and YFU Latvia made this event a big success.
The programme was inspiring participants to be creative and in matter of hours the walls were covered with flipcharts and new ideas. Participants were open to learn by experiencing and asking; so in short time they were ready to practice their facilitators’ competences in the local school. The participants appreciated the opportunity to explore the revised Coloured Glasses manual and found it very practical for their work.
The practice session in the school was a big success as it gathered 80 very excited students for the Coloured Glasses workshops. It was a very promising start of the Coloured Glasses programme in Latvia and the group of 14 newly trained facilitators has shown they are able to continue the good work in the future as well.
Once they get the required experience the new facilitators will be offered an opportunity to get officially certified by EEE-YFU, which will enable them to run Coloured Glasses workshops across Europe. EEE-YFU within the Colour our World project is supporting 10 Local Launch Events across Europe.
This activity was made possible thanks to the funding of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
