Helping Hand

Counselling Training Course

21-26 April 2015, Poznan, Poland

Helping HandsHelping Hand aims to equip volunteers with counselling skills so that they are able to support their organisations in managing difficult personal situations which occur throughout the exchange year.

The training course will increase listening and communication skills of participants, including the intercultural and intergenerational aspect of communication. It will also help ensuring smoother interaction between exchange students, host families and the office as well as boost participants’ confidence in dealing with counselling cases which do not necessarily require staff intervention. There will be opportunities to improve conflict management skills, with a specific focus on non-violent communication techniques.

Among training methods, case studies and forum theatre are planned in order to analyse troublesome scenarios and practice dealing with them through experiential learning.

The participants are expected to become more culturally competent counsellors.
