Travelling to Strasbourg

As you may have already noticed, while Strasbourg does indeed have a small airport, flying there can be expensive.  So, we have prepared for you some information about alternative travel options about how to easily (and less expensively) get to Strasbourg, especially if you are flying from far away.

  • Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport.  There are 4 to 5 direct trains per day from the Charles de Gaulle Airport to Strasbourg and many additional trains from inside Paris (Gare de l’Est).  Costs start from 94 € return, and take 2 hours to reach Strasbourg. By bus is also possible, taking 7 hours and costing from 11 € return.  
  • Frankfurt Airport.  Every hour there are trains departing directly from the airport to Strasbourg train station.  Travel time is about 3 hours and costs are between 49 € and 64 €. There are also buses which take 5 hours for 34 € to 50 € return.
  • Basel-Mulhouse airport.  After a short and easy busy trip from the airport to the train station, there are many trains every hour that go to directly to Strasbourg.  Travel time is 1 hour and a half and costs are 40 € to 52 € return.  
  • Karlsruhe Baden-Baden airport.  After a short bus trim to the train station, there are trains are every hour directly to Strasbourg.  Travel time is about 2 and costs are 38 € to 52 € return.
